Seriously, students should not have to use such double wheels, at least not at this level. Those tools are for mass production, not for improving skill. Anyway, it was nice to see some traditional cutting, in Hungary we call this pattern as "lengyel minta", meaning: Polish/Poland pattern.
Any of you know where this lathe was made? The fellow I bought it from thought it came from Germany. The spindle on it is about 1 1/2" in diameter. It is for the type of work shown in the school video. I will use it mainly for rough cuts on copper wheel work. Any information about the lathe maker would be appreciated. BTW - it has ring oiling babbitt bearings. Thanks. Jim
Very nice and cool photo James.... Maybe I can make a post with its photo? I'm in the process of getting one (lathe) I was wondering if later on you could give me some help in regards of acquiring a motor etc..... :)

DeleteLeenah,
ReplyDeleteDo what you want with the photo.
After seeing the lathe you are getting, I can tell you what I would do for a motor etc.
