More of Wendy Johsnton Brodd; one of my favourite artists.

All images are © to Wendy Johnston Brodd and have been used with her permission.

Wendy is by far one of my favourite drill engravers in the world. There is a softness and this eye for detail that I really admire (just look at the eye on the bird and tree on photo #2); so I am always very excited to share her work with you all.

Have a wonderful days.

Another engraving by yours truly

Here is my latest, I learnt so much with the last one I did and followed the advise of James Riser and used lower speed where I needed to, thus making the edges a little more clean. I was pretty pleased.... Though I still have lots to learn.

I did this using the Proxxon Drill, diamond burrs and just a bit of stone burrs, very light polishing at the bottom.

Feel free to post a comment if you have any questions. I will be posting some information about the tools I used.

The Wife of Llew (The beautiful glass engraving by the talented Susan Burne)

All photos are © to Mrs. Burne and have been used with her permission.

Such a beautiful piece and so well crafted. The images seem to come alive when you look at the beautiful piece of art. Sue explains of the vase:

"In the legend Blodeuwedd is created for Llew by his magician uncle but is unfaithful to her husband and as punishment is turned into an owl".

I wanted to share this with you all today. I have known Sue for a few years... and she is such a sweet, talented and kind woman. She recently shared her work with us and I asked if I could share it on my this blog with you all. Sue is a drill engraver who started her work with glass back in 2001. She is an associate fellow of the Guild of Glass Engravers and a craft member of the Somerset Guild of Craftsmen. To see more of Sue's work visit her web site:

Thank you so much for visiting!

***Translated with Google translate*** Only first paragraph of the article.

“When it was first found in the excavations diatreta, experts were amazed. What could our ancestors as early as Roman times, several engravers succeeded in the second half of last century. As of today without these engravings engraving machines, diamond discs, and other paraphernalia were able to produce? We do not know. But we are extremely proud that you can manufacture the diatrety Fler the live show. And show it to you - who else than Diatreta!”

More of the strikingly beautiful work from the hand of Wendy Johnston Brodd.

All images are © to Wendy Johnston Brood and have been used with her permission.

The truth is, that Wendy's work is one of my favourite if not... the FAVOURITE when it comes to drill engraving and polishing. Wendy's work is breathtaking both in the photos and in the flesh. The polishing and detail she achieves on the glass is magnificent. I still get the same feeling when I see her work I got the very first time I saw a little turtle she engraved. LOVE IT! Like it... and share it! She is AMAZING and such an amazing friend of mine =) and one of my greatest inspirations =)
